Love it or hate it, the fact is that we spend a considerable amount of time in a work environment, it can be challenging, it can be rewarding or you may want to be making a big change.

Even the most successful of people sometimes need to talk about their work life. Whether it’s the stresses of corporate life or the pressure of running your own business, therapy helps you talk about your situation, become more self aware of yourself and others around you but most importantly work with the therapist support to find tools to cope, and strengthen your own resources and resilience.

You may be looking for ways to manage your work life balance, work relationships that may be difficult or you may be experiencing bullying at work, facing redundancy, or even being able to find more purpose and fulfilment in your working life.

The fact is, mental ill health is not uncommon, and given the average person will spend more than 90,000 hours of their life at work, it’s natural that just as our physical health can impact our ability to work, so can our mental health.  Therapy can help with a range of symptoms or situations that present in the work environment.  These include:

  • Work related stress and anxiety 
  • Bullying or harassment
  • Feeling overwhelmed 
  • Self esteem
  • Lack of confidence
  • Career counselling – if you are stuck in your career.

When you’re in the midst of the situation, it can be hard to think clearly.  Talking to a professional in a confidential, non-judgemental setting, about the difficulties you’re experiencing can help you understand what may be causing your difficulties and the steps you can take to overcome it.   

We all often keep problems close to our chest so just imagine the sense of relief than can result in talking to a neutral party about your difficulties.  Together with a therapist you can identify whats causing the problem and work with the counsellor to discuss coping methods that are right for you.

How can I help?

The first step after you contact me (either by phone or email) will be a brief telephone conversation with me. This is so you can raise any questions or concerns and share a little about your situation. Each and every telephone call is conducted in strict confidence.  If you feel uncomfortable with a telephone conversation, please express this on an email and we can organise your initial free consultation in person.

Following this, you can choose whether to book in sessions with me and we can discuss how and when these will happen.  The initial consultation is designed to give you freedom of choice and to ensure you are comfortable talking and working with me

Your first session will give you the chance to talk freely in a calm, quiet and completely confidential environment to explore your situation and how it impacts you day to day.    I look to understand what you hope to achieve from therapy and from this we can explore some techniques and ideas to help you to achieve improved health and wellbeing, so you are armed with a unique set of tools that you can use to continue to feel well.   Most importantly I work at a pace and frequency that feels right for you with regular check ins to see how you are progressing.
